Earlier this evening I received an email from KillerStartups stating that TheDaySite.com has been featured and reviewed on KillerStartups.com.

Here is the review and please vote for the startup.
This is big. I am content as the response has been very positive, and encouraging from all those who have visited the website. The idea has been praised. Take a look at the day site here.
Also, spread the words and tell your friends about The Day Site.

Fixing and tweaking… December 19, 2008

TheDaySite.com is getting quite a positive response and I must admit that it does feel good. Not many have signed up, however there have been activities on the website. Most people are dropping me feedbacks and emails which I really appreciate. Thanks guys!
Anyway, I came across a couple of bugs on the website as well as some very weird WordPress issues :-/ I update a blog post here and it just vanishes in thin air! It doesn’t even display on this wordpress site. I wonder why. I had been fixing bugs on TheDaySite lately – what more can you expect from a 4/5-day job? And oh yeah I’ve also been trying to tweak the webserver just in case some unexpected trafficked-love comes this way and my server is on his knees gasping air.
Okay I am thinking to start working on the CRAMPED WALL feature that I had initially planned but couldn’t get it done. Umm, well I would leave the formal “definition” phase for a later time when I actually deploy it.
Till then, enjoy~!
Peace!
Invitational day & interesting ideas pouring in December 19, 2008

Okay, I don’t know if theres such a thing as a “Launch fever”..? Yep, after I launched the site – I got some traces of flu and cold later as the day climbed. This was the last thing I expected from launching a crazy experiment online. But I guess flu happens.
I’ve been pretty much sending invitations and have been introducing this idea to people I know. Lots of people have responded with what they think and I am glad that it has (so far) captured the imagination and the idea has been easily perceived by the “masses”. Almost all of them have appreciated it rather than calling me a nut-case.
However, some people came back with:
“Ahaan, but this looks like a joke? 365 days only? 10,000 accounts! It doesn’t seem real? How are you gonna keep it kicking dude…? It’s going to get exhausted soon, can you keep it interesting?”
Well, for that I can safely say – the all too famous - “Yes, I can”. I’ve a plan. Here’s it: Firstly, I believe if I unleash everything right at this very *launch* moment – the purpose of this whole idea being as simple as “make the homepage yours for a day” will succumb to its complexity. The key attraction for this idea is to be really simple.
Secondly, once it gains momentum I have so many more things to offer as value-added features. For example: in addition to the Internet Calendar there’s a Cramped Wall thing that I have planned as well. Wait and see. There’s a whole lot more in store.
I plan to release new features over the passage of time and as the user base strengthens. Believe you me 10,000 accounts are far too less - and 365 days aren’t just 365 days. (Need some hints then read here…)
Lets see how this thing goes. It’s an experiment after all; and it might just kick in. Wish me luck and don’t forget to share with your friends.
Thanks ya’all.
The Day Site Launched! December 16, 2008

A couple of days back I was talking to a friend late night and whining about how terrible things look especially with loads of assignments and reports submission lined up for the week. I have this small “paper board” thing hooked up on my wall that I use to place old-fashioned sticky notes on. When I need to focus on something important I usually remove all other sticky notes.
I was glancing over it and out of no where this crazy idea struck me – to create a website that would let people have its homepage for a day.
The idea is to sell “days” by letting people have the homepage and replace it with their own image. The purpose is to try out this idea and experiment with it. Besides, I believe its fun and provides a good value to the users.
Hence I came up with The Day Site. I brushed dirt off my development tools after quite a long time and worked on the website for 4 straight days. In the process I managed to make some folks really mad – as I was shut in my room working, eating or sleeping and ignoring all the rest.
Anyway, the idea behind The Day Site is very simple.
It lets you have its homepage for a day and allows you to upload an image (with a link to your website) to be displayed on that day instead. The homepage displays just your image for the entire day and nothing else!
Once the day ends your homepage is archived and becomes a part of the Internet Calendar. The day is permanently marked with your name (ofcourse your image) and is destined to be there forever.
The idea is challenging as well because there are only 365 days in an year. If it kicks in, the days are going to vanish pretty quickly so to keep the service interesting and attractive I am yet to work over some ideas. Hopefully some will accidentally drop in my brain …
So ladies and gentleman I present you: http://TheDaySite.com.
Please feel free to create an account, reserve a day and put up whatever amuses you most for it to become the ultimate homepage for that day!
Oh and I also made this stupid intro to the site (promise me not to laugh
):
I hope you enjoy this new website. And hey, dont forget to tell your friends about this crazy idea…
